Rastafari Rootzfest will host the first ever HIGH TIMES 2015 Jamaican World Cannabis Cup in Negril on Nov. 12- 15, 2015. This historical moment is the country’s first ganja-exempt event.

Earlier this year, the Jamaican Government amended its Dangerous Drug Act to finally recognize Rastafarian religious and sacramental rights to use ganja and also decriminalized the possession of up to two ounces of marijuana for adults including tourists.

Rastafari Rootzfest is a comprehensive event that will celebrate Rastafari ideology, livity and culture after years of struggle to legalize the herb. The event will have feature daily expositions and seminars exploring the Rastafari culture, weed competitions, an awards ceremony and nightly concerts from roots reggae artists supporting the cause.

ARTISTS LINE UP

The artists lineup, recently announced by Billboard, will feature Fred Locks and Tosh 1 on Thursday (Nov. 12), Luciano, Bushman, Jah Bouks and Talking Dreads on Friday (Nov. 13), Tarrus Riley, I Wayne and Mighty Diamonds on Saturday (Nov 14). Then, the event closes with the awards ceremony presentations on Sunday (Nov. 15).

“It’s time to get up and stand up, stand up for what is right! Lets get up and stand up, time we all unite!” said Rastafarian elder and event organizer Ras Iyah V. “It is good that this government can recognize that I & I do have the right and am able to enjoy that right of herb as I & I Sacrament. Hail Rastafari!”

The event will be held from 12pm-midnight every day in Long Bay Beach Park set along the popular Seven Mile Beach in Negril. 

Anybody under 18-years-old will not be permitted to enter and this restriction will be enforced. Tickets and travel packages are on sale at rastafarirootzfest.com and cannabiscup.com.
