- Tad Dawkins Senior, founder and CEO of Tad’s Record, said a growing demand for dancehall music prompted him and his team to launch their newest various artist compilation.
- “We noticed the resurgence of dancehall, especially leading up to the summer, and as you can see from the album’s track listing there are some new artistes such as Vershon, Don Andre, Razor B, Dexta Daps, and Alkaline who have played their part in this new ‘life’ in the music. And, of course, there are the ever-present top artistes represented, namely Mavado and Vybz Kartel,” he said.
- Mavado’s ‘Big League’ is one of the anthems on Dancehall Kick Out, so too is ‘Champion Boy’ by Alkaline; a song so hot it was used throughout Jamaica’s general election in February. Then there’s the novelty hit ‘Tom Cruise’ by Don Andre; this track has been sparking a dance craze of the same name.
- Kartel is never far from the action; he has four songs on Dancehall Kick Out, including ‘Summer 16’. Not to be left out is Vershon who represents with ‘Mercy A God’.
