King Of The Dancehall is clearly inspired by the vibrant culture of Jamaica to which it pays homage since Cannon reveals he was taken away by the spirit of the people and the culture but was overall the athletic and energetic style of the dances that inspired him to do the movie. He asked himself

- It’s not easy to capture the true essence of the dances and to help him he linked famed choreographer Jae Blaze, who has worked with the likes of Rihanna and trained him many hours to learn the moves.
