Jamaican singer and Grammy winner Buju Banton performed the first concert of his “Long Walk To Freedom” tour at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica this past Saturday night delivering an unforgettable & very special show in his native Jamaica.

Thousands of patrons showed up for the awaited Gargamel’s live show, the iconic artist did not perform in Jamaica for over a decade and his fans missed him a lot, with many flying in from overseas to be there.

The show was an amazing celebration for the artist that had been incarcerated for more than 8 years , following his arrest in 2011 in Florida.

Buju Banton, real name Mark Myrie, delivered an incredible live performance, full of energy and high vibes, starting his live show softly, saiing “Lamb of God, have mercy on me,” while falling on his knees, all dressed in white.

From there on it was a crescendo of hit after hit, starting from one of his most popular and loved  song “Is Not An Easy Road”, followed by “Close One Yesterday“, both songs sang by thousands of the adoring screaming fans that filled the Kingston’s National stadium.

Delivering a two hours monumental show where he performed all his biggest hits like “Untold Stories,” “Wanna Be Loved,” “Driver A,” “Make My Day,” “On Bending Knees,” “Destiny,” “Murderer,” “Champion,” “Hills and Valleys”, sharing the stage with the likes of Wayne Marshall and Marcia Griffith.

Fans were not disappointed as Gargamel proved that all these years away from the stage did not affect his talent and passion, delivering an incredible live show, proving he is still on top of his music game and commanding a strong grip onstage from the start to the the end of the show.

A lot of performances and joyful emotions during the live show that boasted performances from different top Jamaican artists like Chronixx and Agent Sasco.

It was a great day for Buju, reggae music, and Jamaica.

Part of the proceeds from the show will go towards Buju Banton’s foundation which aims to ensure that at-risk youths, from newborn to 20 years old, have equal opportunities to succeed, through skills training and educational opportunities.
