World Boss Vyb Kartel, born Adidja Azim Palmer, got his appeal denied.

In an incredible twist of events and when the incarcerated deejay, his fans, family and legal team all were hoping for a positive outcome, the denial came in like a cold shower that left every body out of breath.

A three-member panel released the verdict in Kingston this past Friday, pairing their decision with a 235-page opinion detailing why they weren’t dismissing the charges against the Dancehall King and his co-accused, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John.

The hearing was held via teleconference and streamed on Instagram Live due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kartel, Campbell (known as Shawn Storm), Jones and St. John (known as Mad Suss) were charged in 2011 with the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, his body was never found by authorities.

Kartel, released some comments sent via Gaza’s vice-president, Sikka Rhymes, saying he felt that he should not be in prison.

“I’m 100 per cent sure I should be set free. Legally, there is very little to be concerned about. But put the ‘Kartel factor’ in the mix and everything gets complicated,” Kartel said.

Meanwhile, the court has given the lawyers seven days to submit information to support their claim that the sentences were excessive.

Kartel has been sentenced to 35 years, while his co-convicts Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John were all sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment whitout parole.

“I would say that they have already agreed it should be reduced,” Neita Robertson, one of Kartel’s lawyer said.

She said that the fact that the court is considering a sentence reduction is a big fact to take in consideration and hopefully Kartel’s time behind bars will be reduced.

Vybz Kartel has been behind bars since September 29, 2011.  He was convicted in 2014 for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

The dancehall deejay, who has been a dominating figure before and during his incarceration, has had his legions of fans around the world calling for freedom for the “Worl’ Boss’, as he refers to himself.

Let’s not despair yet because Kartel’s defense team have been prepared for all eventualities, including a denial and had already placed a lawyer on standby to argue the case before the Privy Council in England.

The lawyers will now have to seek leave from the Court of Appeal to go to the Privy Council to appeal the case, a process that could take at least one year for this to take place.
